1.  Treat and interact with other people as you would have them do with you.  Treat everybody with courtesy and respect!

2.  Know the shop safety rules and follow them always!  No exceptions!

3.  Use tools & machines only if you are confident that you know what you are doing. If not, ask.

4.  Keep your property under your own supervision.  Don't be a victim.  There are people who steal projects or wood, and some who just like to ruin your hard work.  Your property is your responsibility.  Write your name on your project.

5.  Keep your hands off other people's belongings.  No piece of wood is a scrap unless the owner or the teacher puts it in the scrap bin.  Students will be encouraged to press charges for theft or vandalism.

6.  Respect the shop and the tools contained therein.

7.  Be prepared to work on your project every day.  When students do not work, they get themselves and others into trouble or danger.  Work and get all the class points you can.

8.  Complete the clean-up assignment that is given to you.  If that assignment can be completed before the class is dismissed, please find another area to clean until the class ends.  Don't stand around.

9.  Report any broken or missing tools to the teacher immediately.  This is also true if the tool broke when you were using it.  Things happen.  Let the teacher know.

10.  If you see something that you think may not be safe, including other student's actions, please let the teacher know.

11.  Use tools only for their intended purpose.  A screwdriver puts in screws, it is not a chisel.

12.  Clean up after yourself when you finish working with a tool or in an area.  Clean behind yourself as you work.

13.  Work only on teacher approved projects!  In order to have a project approved, a detailed drawing, including all specifications, must be submitted to the teacher and signed off.  Keep the plans in case you are asked for them again by the teacher.

14.  Do not plan on making anything in shop that is against school rules, is illegal, or immoral.

15.  Attend class daily and on time.  Work all period.

16.  It a student must be absent, it is the responsibility of the student to clear the absence.   If the absence is not cleared in 3 days, it may be counted as a truancy.

17.  You will be given your academic standing in the class periodically.  Share the information with your parent or guardian.

18.  Keep the quality of your work high.  Do as many approved projects as you can during the semester.

19.  Cell phones and music players are to be turned off and put away before entering the classroom.  If an electronic device is observed in class, it may be sent to the Dean's office.  The wires on earbuds are dangerous around tools.

20.  Dress appropriately for class!  No loose clothing.  No open toed shoes.  No hats.
