It is asked that students arrive on time to class. Tardy students disrupt the class. Roll is taken at the start of the class (and sometimes at the end too.) Immediately after roll call, any announcements are made to help guide the day's activity. If students are having difficulty with a part of an assigned project, this is a good time to ask questions. Each day seems to bring new reminders about safety. Depending on the amount of instruction necessary on a given day, the awaited announcement eventually comes, "Go to work!" At this time the students gather their projects and tools and starts to work. Students work independently for the most part. Some find it better to work in a group. Students with questions should seek answers from the teacher, or in some cases from an advanced woodworking student. We do ask for the sake of safety that no student try to do something they do not fully understand. At the end of the working period, the signal is given by the teacher to "Clean-up." This is a necessary part of the class and students must all pitch in and help. Keeping the tools in good shape and the shop clean is a safety concern, so we ask that everyone do their best each day. A solid effort in cleaning is rewarded with points in class. Not cleaning will hurt a student's grade.
