I grew up in the West Valley. I went to Justice Street Elementary, Faith Baptist, Columbus Junior High, and El Camino Real High School. Like many young people I participated in Pop Warner Football and played baseball at Westhills. My best experiences at El Camino were French class with Monsieur Richard Watts, Football, and Woodshop. I was admitted to the University of Southern California upon my graduation from El Camino Real. My major areas of study were Political Science and Physical Education. I also accomplished much of my teacher training at USC. During my time at university, I went almost every day to ECR to help with football or baseball. The environment at this time in the school's history made working and coaching at El Camino fun. It was this period of my life that would influence me to go into teaching. I accepted a teaching assignment at ECR in 1986. I taught Basic Math, Earth Science and Physical Science. Even though my background was not in the sciences, I had a blast teaching those courses. The material is so fascinating, it was easy to keep the class interesting. I eventually moved into the Social Studies Department. I taught many of the subjects offered by the department. This was also a fun time in that the discussions in class were invigorating. As I accepted more and more coaching responsibility, I needed to make a move to the Physical Education Department. I enjoyed teaching P.E. I have had some great students over the years to work with. They were not always athletic, but some students had incredibly solid attitudes. A Physical Education class that works hard and works together is a joy to be associated with. I coached athletics for over twenty years at El Camino in various capacities before being asked to devote all my time to the classroom. :) As of Spring of 2007, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be working with the Football Program again. Lately, I have been teaching woodworking. Wood was a favorite class at ECR, and to teach it at my old school is a pleasure. The wood shop is one of the few remaining Industrial Education classes in our community. We packed up, gave away, or just plain closed Electronics, Metal, Auto, and almost every shop we had in the name of academic rigor. This happened several administrations ago. Our current administration supports Industrial Education as an important part of a well-rounded education. The support they provide, even through tough economic times, has been most helpful and appreciated. Recently, many new machines were added to our shop! I have a life outside of school. For fun, I enjoy doing my own woodworking projects, gardening, and taking pictures in natural settings. I love to be around the ocean. I enjoy learning about new things that interest me. My time spent with friends is enjoyable. My faith is the central point of my life. I attend Calvary Chapel. It is a non-denominational Christian church founded on the teachings of the Bible. I don't claim to be perfect, just forgiven. Beliefs
